How big is Sam?

Well, he's certainly bigger than a bread box these days, but we still had to gather more evidence with a challah bread photo shoot. Nana and Pop-Pop brought a challah from the same bakery used in the last shot to ensure an accurate comparison. Just look at how our little guy has grown (posts are from 2/10/07, 9/19/07 and today), and check out the expression on his face in all three pictures! We tried to explain what we were up to this time, but he certainly doesn't look any less skeptical.

At his two-year check-up we learned the following:
1.- Sam is a very healthy kid who is hitting all the relevant milestones.
2.- Sam is now less of a teapot, coming in at the 39th percentile for both height and weight, but still has a big ol' noggin.
3.- Sam remains quite unhappy to visit doctor and has a strong pair of lungs! (Thanks to Pop-Pop for coming along and helping to keep him as calm as possible.)
4.- Having a muffin at the coffee shop in the lobby makes everything better within minutes.

And in closing, tonight we reached a different kind of milestone which actually made Keith and I a bit sad. For the first time, Sam sung the alphabet song correctly. No more "h-guy, h-guy, hubba, bubba, pee." Oh, we'll miss it so!

Now we can say with confidence that Sam has always believed challah was for eating and not for holding. And he's right! His babyhood seems to have up and left during the past few weeks. Next thing we know he'll be baking his own challah. Yum!

So, so precious... Amy and Keith, time does go quickly, and I remember at each stage, wishing I had a magic wand that would keep you or Nicole exactly as you were. Funny thing is though, seems the next stage was just as much fun if not better! (The one exception to this may have been the 14 - 15 year old stage....!). Best for you all, you have all of Sam captured in this wonderful diary, so you can always revisit the first versions of the alphabet song! Love to everyone!

So glad to hear the checkup went well. Just to be clear on the scale, though- was that a 50th percentile challah? I just love these pics and though I don't want him to grow up too fast, I can't wait to see the photo of Sam, his date and the challah before prom. Love you guys!
