Let Your Music Shine!

As our days in Seattle wind down, we're making time for some things on our always wanted-to-do list - along with all the organizing, packing and saying good-bye (*sniff*). Yesterday was Tiny Tots at the Symphony. We were all very excited about this event but kind of missed the mark on what we were in for. After dutifully explaining to Sam that we'd be seeing, hearing and learning about all the instruments he's been so excited about lately (violin! cello! harp! tuba!)...what we ended up witnessing involved two adult women, identical twins no less, dressed in fluorescent lycra outfits with a very, very, very cheery presentation about Rock and Roll. Whoa! (Click on this website if you want a little taste!)

Everyone else in the audience was dancing and cheering and singing wildly...and there were the three of us, front and center, all dressed up and totally befuddled. Sam sat, mouth agape but mostly expressionless and completely still for the entire 35 minutes. We interpret the brief smile we captured below as a moment of utter bemusement.

It was a great show for kids all told, but we were all a lot happier exploring the instruments we had come to see in the lobby. To say that Sam enjoyed getting to play the violin is the understatement of the century.

In closing, we encourage you all to raise you hands in the air! Say beep, beep, yeah! Now wiggle your hips and let your music shine! (Yeah...seriously...for 35 mintues!!!)

Sam looks so grown up! And hurray for his love of music, particularly the violin. Can't wait to see you.

I say Lisa and Linda are pretty scary! Wow! BUT the photos of Sam with the instruments were priceless...such joy! I remember taking Jamie to something like that at the Kennedy Center...so great for the kids...the hands-on touch! Good Luck in the last weeks...I love you all always! Mimi

So glad you are exposing Sam to all kinds of music! If any of your friends you're leaving behind want to know more about what music is in our shows before they go, our website does give a brief description of the content. Of the 35 shows we have written and performed over the last 10 years, the majority highlight symphonic instruments, and a hand-full educate on musical styles, like in "Beep and Bounce".
Thanks for the comments about being pretty scary - it helps us know how we can be perceived - not our intent of course, but important non the less.
