I can't find the cord that I need to download pictures at the moment but in the meantime I thought I'd share some recent Sam-isms. You can really tell that he's grappling with feelings, identity and permanence-- serious business indeed and much fun for us to witness!
"Mommy, when am I going to turn into a girl? I think I am really a girl today."
"My Lambie was a sheep when he was a baby and then he grew up and became a lamb and today he is a sheep again. He is very old now."
"I am very annoyed today. I had a bad dream and my eye hurts. But now I am doing much better. I am not frustrated. But I am crying. I will cry forever, I think."
and my personal favorite:
"Mommy, are you ever going to turn into a lemon?"

Fascinating and amusing. I wonder what it means to have a record of all the things this generation says; can you imagine being able to look back at your 2 year old identity formation? Fascinating and amusing indeed.
I wonder how many other kids Sam's age have these thoughts, but can't express them. And I wonder, in the great cosmic theory of conservation of matter, whether any part of Sam's mother will one day turn into a lemon. ;-)
A great posting. Thanks.
