Can you tell life has gotten a little busy? My work has picked up and life is just generally very full, so I keep putting off posting because I don't have time to do the catch-up we'd like. For now I'm just going to jot down some notes so we can keep track of some things we don't want to forget from the past couple of months.
-Amy - that's me - turned 35 (ack!) and Sam turned 6 (hooray!). Amy's birthday included lovely family time, take-out Thai food and a belated date night while Rickie and Mike were in town for Sam's festivities (they haven't missed one yet!). We took Sam out for "fancy restaurant sushi" on his actual birthday, and then we had a gymnastics party for his friends. Per his request, there was a dress-up component so that he could play the part of Luke Skywalker, and we ordered a very specific custom cake with a BIG tiger popping out of the rainforest. So, a gymnastics-Star Wars-rainforest party was what we had, and a great party it was!
-We returned to Seattle for the first time since leaving three and a half years ago! Piggy backing on a talk Keith was asked to give at UW, we all went up and had a really nice four-day weekend, seeing lots of old friends and doing lots of great touristy stuff. I found out the hard way that the Fremont Troll is the embodiment of fear for Milo (whoops!) as are the animatronic dinosaurs at the Pacific Science Center (double whoops!) but that he is an incredibly good sport once you get past the abject terror. The Children's Museum and Aquarium were adored just as they had been years ago, Blue C Sushi was the hands-down highlight of the trip from a food perspective, and yes, the city is beautiful but the weather was just as dreary. Seeing our friends (especially watching Sam and Sawyer and Milo and Violet together) brought back many very happy memories and made us want to return again very soon.
-We are all Star Wars all the time in this house. From the Star Wars soundtrack on repeat in the minivan to the YouTube videos of everything from VW commercials using the Imperial March to a chorus of dogs singing the same, it is amazing that we manage to talk about anything else. Although Sam was the originator of the obsession, Milo is actually leading the charge these days, humming the theme song and Imperial March while he builds with Duplo and asking when Vader will come to babysit.
-Milo is also getting into dinosaurs, just as it had become safe to say that they no longer hold any interest for Sam. That section of our home library is getting a LOT of play once again. *sigh*
Okay. That's all for now folks. I really do intend to add pictures and then keep things up again soon. Fingers crossed!

Thanks for the update. Poor Milo and the Troll. I thought he (Milo) would have liked it. Eager to see you all again soon.
